Respo International head contractor of Indonesia
In the framework of the policy memorandum ‘Sport coalitions at work' Respo International is appointed by NOC*NSF as head assignee of Indonesia.
Within a timescale of 3 years Respo International is going to initiate, develop and implement project activities with the goal to improve the living circumstances of disabled people. This will be done by using sports and mobility activities. The following goals are pursued:
- An increase in participation in sports and recreational activities by people with a disability,
- A reinforced local and durable disabled sports structure in favour of social and community development from the principal ‘nothing about us, without us',
- An increase in awareness, especially among non-disabled people, and a decrease of stigmatising and discriminating disabled people,
- An increase in life expectancy and leadership skills of disabled youths through sports.
This program pursues an improved basis for sports as a way of emancipation, integration and empowerment for people with a disability; with the help of policy makers, service providers, sport academies and sport clubs, developmental cooperating organisations, people with a disability and their organisations (DPO's).
After three weeks of intensive training the 20 SPAT students received their certificate for the SPAT module II and the self defence registration.
In spring of 2010 the third SPAT-module will take place, in which the 20 SPATtrainers will take part yet again.
Thanks to the sponsoring of Respo International, Cordaid, Impulis, Emcart Sport, but also many smaller and big private sponsors it is possible to get this project started correctly.
