OUR PEOPLE

The heart of our organisation is formed by a large group of capable volunteers, who put in a lot of effort to help Respo. These volunteers have the knowledge and experience to teach sports and movement exercises to children and adults with a disability.

By co-operating with Windesheim, School of Human Movement & Sports, Respo International can send out teams of capable students to locations around the world. These teams make it possible for Respo to set up projects that are widely spread and still intensive enough to make a difference.

Moving towards the millennium

Together with Windesheim and the Dutch-Ethiopian organisation DIR, Respo has set up the three-year project ‘Moving towards the millennium’. This project aims at improving the position of people with a disability in Ethiopia. Sports and movement activities are being used to give these people a better perspective in life, while having fun in the process. In total five teams, all containing six students and three expert volunteers, will leave for Addis Abeba in the upcoming three years. Students from different academical courses will work together on this project and will stay at the same location for approximately four months. The expert volunteers will travel to Ethiopia twice a year to support the teams and the local initiatives.
